A Little Goes A Long Way

I'm not just talking about condiments here. Although in some cases it really does apply. I'm really on about courtesy. And kindness. Respect. Dignity. Patience. The ability to treat each other (known & unknown to oneself) with any of the above at any one time. Or all of them at once.

I have an invisible disability. A chronic spinal injury (CSI) to be precise. Broke it not once but twice. In the same area and only 4 months apart. Now I'm suffering the unforgiving nature of time & early-onset diseases/disorders of my spine.

There are some days I do not want to get out of bed and then there's others where I roll out (literally because it's too hard to sit up and swing legs out) feeling good & wearing a smile. Most of the time, it's somewhere in between these two that I find myself. I've learned to put on a smile even if I really don't feel like it. Which of course, is pretty much all of the time. It's no one elses fault I hurt so I make a point of not taking my pain out on them. In the wake of that statement, I should be better to myself & quit beating myself up over all of this. Sometimes s#!* just happens and you have to accept your situation if you can't change it. Which brings me back to the concept a little does go a long way.

If you see someone with a handicap placard in their window (or on their dash) don't judge them. Don't stare nor give them a dirty look. If you're behind someone that's not moving as fast as you would like them, it may not necessarily be the position they wanted to be in either.
